Week 1 2023 Session Recap

Week 1 2023 Session Recap

Greetings!

I’d first like to once again thank the voters of Cecil and Harford Counties for allowing me to serve another term as their State Senator.  I assure you that I will continue to work hard everyday for you.  On January 11th, surrounded by friends and family I took my Oath of Office in the Senate Chamber.

Committee Update

For the past four years, I’ve served on the Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs committee.  The EHEA committee has now evolved into the Education, Energy, and Environment committee, that welcomes a new Chairman and new members.  I’m pleased to be apart of this redesigned committee as the ranking Republican member, which will create the opportunity to dive into new subject matter and work on some of the most pressing issues for our state.

This past week  the EEE held briefings regarding housing affordability and the state of our school system presented by the State Superintendent.

Harford County Senate Delegation Update

I’m pleased to announce that my colleagues have elected me as the Harford County Senate Delegation Chair.  The position was previously held by now Harford County Executive Robert Cassilly.

As a lifelong Harford County resident, it’s an honor and privilege to further serve my County and State in this new role.  I look forward to meeting with members of the community to make sure Harford County remains a great place to work, live, and raise a family.

New State Leadership

This past Wednesday Governor Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller took their Oath of Office and were sworn into office.  I hope to be able to find common ground on some issues with Governor Moore, however, I’m sure there will be many times were we will passionately disagree on issues.

The Republican Senate Caucus is focused on providing relief for the rising cost of living and doing business across the state, tax relief for seniors, fiscal responsibility, addressing Maryland’s violent crime crisis, supporting our small businesses and job creators, and holding Democrat leadership accountable for their programs and policies.

As always please don’t hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions or concerns you would like to bring to my attention.  My office can be reached at 410-841-3603 or via email at Jason.gallion@senate.state.md.us
