Crime

Crime

Protecting Maryland citizens should always be a top priority of Government.

We’ve seen crime increase in areas of our state year after year with no end in sight.  Lax crime policies have lead to repeat violent offenders wreaking havoc on our streets.  For the past two years, I’ve supported Governor Hogan’s crime legislation that gets repeat, violent offenders out of our communities out of the Senate, only to have it die with no action in the House.

My Republican colleagues and I have tried for years to make the theft of a handgun a felony and close the “drug dealer loophole” in the State where drug dealers are exempted from enhanced penalties for committing a felony with a firearm.  We were able to get these passed through amendment in the Senate only to have it once again stripped out in the House.  I will continue to fight for these common sense solutions to curb violent crime in our state.
